Nature and Human Health Alliance

Nature and Health-Alliance (NH-ALL), is a new research/practice collaborative group comprised of scholars, educators, practitioners and community members.  Our goals are to raise awareness of the value of nature for human health and well-being and to incorporate more nature into the lives of all people. With generous funding from the REI Cooperative Action Fund, NH-ALL will coordinate group activities, connect with related groups at a national level, and further our understanding of the links between nature and human health to help create a national movement to expand our understanding of the importance of and access to nature for all people.

Preliminary work will include gaining an understanding of the mechanisms by which environmental and social movements become successful. We will also explore the fields of public relations and social marketing to learn how we might most efficiently and effectively transmit and receive information about the health benefits of nature. We will carry out ongoing work to compile and organize the existing projects, people, and organizations currently involved with this area of research and practice so that we might avoid redundancy and overlap of efforts.
